Be Faithful, Not Successful

There is a beginning and an end for everyone.
May I be faithful in the span between.

Not successful or spectacular.
Not popular or wealthy.

Faithful:  Having done everything I could with what I've been given.  

Faithful, not flawless.  My frailties and limitations are well-documented. 
Still, O God, tell me I answered your call.

Birthdays remind me that there was a beginning and there will be an end.
We do cakes and candles about 80 times.  

Oh, God, may I be faithful in the span between.  ​
